“Teaming up with the ‘The Night Time Industries Association’ Maribou State – Turnmills is a specially recorded piece of music demonstrating their solidarity for the national campaign #SaveNightlife. Turnmills, as you may or may not know, is one of many iconic club venues that no longer exist”…

Maribou State – Turnmills

‘Turnmills’ is Maribou State’s first new music since 2015’s ‘Portraits’, unless you include the ‘Outtakes‘ EP from 2016. And like anything from the British Duo it combines their usual blend of live instrumentation and processed beats.

In this case we have cinematic strings and a Four Tet like vocal loop giving the record a melancholic feel. Whilst the ear worming arpeggiated bassline offers a strain of positivity. Consequently ‘Turnmills’ is both exuberant and mournful. Which considering, that this record has been recorded to support the national campaign #SaveNightlife, and is named after a long lost beloved venue, it’s suitably fitting. Plus it’s a ruddy good jam also.

Maribou State – Turmills is out now via all streaming and download platforms. And if you want to find out more about #SaveNightLife head to: ‘The Night Time Industries Association‘ website for more information.
