Disclosure Mix – Essential Mix 2013

A Disclosure Mixtape will become a rare commodity in years to come, not to mention them playing at Blah Blah Blah. We had the privilege of Disclosure in the mix it for our 6th Birthday back in May of this year, upon which we discovered they had come to BBB’s 2nd ever Birthday back in 2009 amongst other BBB parties and if that tip of the hat was not enough for our fragile ego’s they agreed to join us at the afterparty for some b2b DJ action. These guys are not only supremely talented song writers, 5th in DJ Mags Top UK Hit Song Writers 2013, but also proper gentlemen. Although dont let Guy near your lighting rig…….questionable results!

Name dropping aside, apologies for that, the Lawrence brothers have had an incredible rise to fortune since Latch smashed into the UK top 20 back in October 2012. Since then White Noise went to No.2, You & Me No.10 and their debut album ‘Settle’ out in June of this year went No.1 in the UK and No.2 in the US Electronic Charts, and is still justifiably riding high. Naturally their have been the customary shouts of ‘Sellout’ ringing in their ears as they stepped into the global limelight and embarked on what is effectively a world tour of festivals and clubs. But lets be honest with ourselves, this has been their sound since their self released ‘Carnival’ EP, early 2011, all thats changed is a little refinement and polish as their writing has matured, there has been no  quick we need to write a massive EDM synth hook to be successful, and therefore claims of selling out simply ring hollow. Yes, Settle is quite Pop, but who cares, so is Daft Punk’s latest record, both of which have been on heavy rotation for us since their respective releases.

Thanks to Pete Tong and Radio 1 for this Disclosure Mixtape collectors item.
