Promoters take note, always been searching for that unique spin to give your budding club night that unique twist, well Red Bull have taken it to a whole new level by hiring the iconic ‘London Eye’ and hosting 30 simultaneous club nights, each with their own pod. Admittedly hiring the London Eye might be a stretch for most promoters, however this event is celebrating those innovators who have stepped out against the flow and forcible changed the course of electronic music and clubbing . Across the 30 capsules Red Bull have assembled some of the UK’s most iconic clubbing brands of the past 20 plus years, gathering together their former residents plus a few honoured guests. Tickets for the pods SOLD OUT in seconds, however all 30 shows will be streamed LIVE via 40D on the 14th November, whilst on ground level ‘Silent Disco’ will allow clubbers to tune into their preferred pod, tickets on sale 10am October 24th via ‘Red Bull Revolutions‘.
Having read the books ‘Last Night A DJ Saved My Life’ and ‘The Record Players’ by Bill Brewster & Frank Broughton we have an impassioned understanding of DJ culture its origins and its key players. Since those books were written clubbing has continued to evolve with the likes of Boiler Room, Warehouse Project, Rinse among others building on what Shoom, Hacienda, and Cream started. Over the next few weeks we will be introducing and discussing a selection of these nights whilst interviewing some of their founders. Having run our own nights for the last 6 years and read the above mentioned books we find this whole concept another inspiring step forward for DJ culture, and to be involved from a journalistic perspective is a great opportunity for us to further feed our slightly nerdy interest in all things DJ related.
