French Fries is a DJ/Producer that has shimmered through both the electro and Bass music scenes over the last 2-3 years. First announcing himself with arguably one of the biggest club tracks of 2010 “Senta”, he managed to nestle himself in the record boxes of Jackmaster, The Crookers and EDM Superstar Laidback Luke (or as Richie Hawtin says EPM). Today however French Fries has settled on the more underground side of dance music with a unique blend of Southern US Hip hop, House and Techno that some may brand as “Ghetto boogie”. La Favela Chic (AKA French Fries) has also had recent releases on Dirtybird, and Night Slugs.
Earlier this week, French Fries announced his 2nd ClekClekBoom EP, which is due to drop 4th March. ‘Everything EP’ showcases La Favela Chic’s use of futuristic sounds and percussive elements combined with a canny understanding of clearness and integrity. Lead track Everything shows how less can result in more, using a stripped back drum beat rein-forced by a heavy, resonating sub bass that rolls throughout. But the real pick of the bunch is the B-Side ‘D’Angelo’ with its 4×4 beat flirting with a dubstep type rhythm whilst gritty filtering synths and a sharp snare fight for your attention.
