For those of you who were with us in 2007 and havent since sacrificed clubbing in favour of responsibility will know that we have always admired the work of messers Fake Blood and Boy 8-Bit. However it has to be said that in the last couple of years we havent been playing much of their music as it hasnt had the panache of previous work, I guess partly due to the electro scene shrinking in popularity and old themes sounding a little tired, and therefore it was with equal measures of hope and trepidation that we downloaded the latest Boy 8-Bit release via Fake Blood’s ‘Blood Music’ imprint. However our fears quickly proved to be unfounded as ‘We Move By Night’ is a stella return to form from both parties. The electro roots of old still resonate throughout the EP, however despite this the ideas sound fresh and exciting, in particular on the second track Midtown which combines Boy 8-Bits trademark combination of beats, percussion with evocative melodies and drama filled breakdowns.
