Leon Vynehall ‘Nothing Is Still’: Envelopes (Chapter VI)
Leon Vynehall has never been one for convention. He’s the type of guy who always knows a better way of getting somewhere. Which to us regular folk can be immensely infuriating! Yet to be truly creative, you’ve always got to risk a few lefts, especially when everyone else is heading right. And ‘Envelopes (Chapter VI)’ most certainly suggests that ‘Nothing Is Still’ is aiming left.
That being said Vynehall is not just being obtuse for the sake of it. But rather he’s allowing his immediate surroundings to guide his creative instincts. Which in this case is the rich history of his Grandparents emmigration to a 1960’s Brooklyn ‘New York’. Through a combination of expansive soundscapes, field recordings a novello and a number of forthcoming short-films Leon has expressed his desire to document, both sonically and visually, his grandparents personally significant journey.
