Ed Sheeran cancels 10,000 stadium tour tickets
May 22nd
Reported by the BBC today – “Sheeran’s team decided to pursue touts after hundreds of tickets for a Teenage Cancer Trust gig were snapped up and sold for profit last March”. It’s understood that 10,000 tickets have already been cancelled with a further 500 set to be cancelled this week. So far £240,000 has been refunded to fans who essentially purchased invalid tickets.
Strict conditions were stipulated prior to the 18 date stadium tour going on sale, including ‘Tickets listed for resale to be cancelled‘. Despite this clear condition of purchase one of the big four secondary ticket sellers, Viagogo, has chosen to ignore this condition and is still selling what are effectively invalid Ed Sheeran tickets. A move, that amongst the constant frustration of secondary ticket prices, highlights why this aggressive stance is long overdue.
Ed we’re not fans of your music, sorry, but kudos for genuinely giving a crap about your fans. Lets hope more artists follow his lead, and the UK Government reconsider making concert ticket touting illegal. As it is for Football.
