Tony Allen & Jeff Mills – The Seed [Underground Music]
Tony Allen & Jeff Mills ‘The Seed’ is an underground music beat match made in heaven. Jeff Mills the god father of drum machines and Detroit Techno, whilst Tony Allen was considered the god father of Afro Beat, and one of the greatest drummers to ever live. Throw in a hammond, funk bass and the dreamiest of synth break downs you’ll hear this year and ‘The Seed’ is irrepressible.
Sadly though, as we write this article it has come to our attention that Tony Allen suddenly passed away in Paris – April 30th 2020. A passing that leaves a gapping chasm in the world of music. In particular, for me personally, Tony Allen provided the beat behind ‘The Good The Bad and The Queen’, who’s debut album provided a welcome salve to the loss of my boy hood band ‘Blur’.
Our thoughts go out to family and friends and thanks to Tony for his inspirational beats.
