Omni collectively hail from Atlanta, Georgia and like all classic DIY bands comprise of various members from various other bands, deceased or otherwise separated. According to a recent interview with ‘Reverb Party‘ all three members; Frankie Broyles (guitar), Philip Frobos (bass/vocals) and Billy Mitchell on (drums) have known each other for a longtime, and its perhaps this long established kinship that has allowed Omni to forge a sound that feels free from restraint, raw and yet highly accomplished.
To date Omni have released just the two singles with a 10 track debut LP ‘Deluxe’, due in July of this year. ‘Wire’ the second of those two singles instantly caught our attention with its lo-fi sound, jagged rhythms and matte finish. There is no pretension or overly elaborate production wizardry here, just a band in its true form writing music with consummate ease and seemingly no grand agenda in sight. Their recent interview with Reverb Party would appear to attest to this fact with the recording process sounding more like a night hanging out with your mates and eating pizza. Even when pushed to describe their music their response concluded on the statement…“we just try to make the kind of music we would like to hear”
