We have been HUGE Leon Bridges fans since stumbling across his record ‘Smooth Sailin’ and subsequently his debut LP ‘Coming Home’. A record that was a smooth modern take on classic soul, r&b and blues. Three genres we’re not about to pretend we know huge amounts about. That said our passion for music, and its origins, is very important to us. Just the other day we recommended the killer Hip-Hop documentary ‘The Defiant Ones‘ and therefore learning about the history of soul, r&b, blues and funk is something we look forward to exploring very soon.
Exploration aside, lets get back to Leon Bridges – You Don’t Know. To some it may seem a little shallow, a grab for attention, pop even, with it’s disco beat and bassline. Yet to take that view would be a little bit churlish in our opinion. It’s a feel good record, and who doesn’t need a feel good record from time to time. It has certainly brightened our day.
‘You Don’t Know’ is taken from Leon Bridges latest LP – ‘Good Thing’.
