Feon – The Sun Is High [Optimo Music]

When it comes to summery psychedelic records it’s fair to say your options are generally quite limited. Not a genre that is exactly on the front page of Mixmag. That said we did find today, via Rubadub, this little sun worshipping beauty. Feon – The Sun Is High.

As we alluded to earlier ‘The Sun Is High’ has a strong affinity with 97 classic ‘The Private Psychedelic Reel’. Drawn out swirling soundscapes, dreamy pads and some out there synth noodling. In addition to this Feon has layered in an evasive yet alluring vocal that smothers you in its harmoniously distant layers. Making it the perfect closing record for any beach facing House DJ. That being said we’d probably edit out the slightly ponderous and thin synth solo that appears two thirds of the way in, we felt it detracted rather than enhanced.
