If BBB were still putting on parties, DJ Seinfeld would be first on our wish list. For the past 18 months he has been consistently costing us a fortune in vinyl purchases, and now he has just announced his debut LP, DJ Seinfeld – Time Spent Away From U via Lobster Theremin and Meda Fury. And it is sounding every bit the party colossus we were hoping for.

Time Spent Away From U is a High Octane mix of hardcore breakbeats, slamming 4×4 House, mid 90’s Korg M1 Rave riffs and of course his trademark lo-fi scratchiness. According to the official blurb the record is is – “an extended post-heartbreak love letter, delivered via the medium of the dance floor” Sounds a little lofty aim for a no-nonsense dance record, but to be fare to Mr Seinfeld the emotion subtly intertwines with the pounding beats, creating a nice juxtaposition of depth and immediacy.

‘Time Spent Away From U’ is forthright, enticing and in places poignant. A fantastic record that demonstrates that whilst DJ Seinfeld most certainly has designs on your feet, he may also want your soul.
