Kommune 1 is a 23 year old UK producer who like many has been inspired by the Underground Bass scene that has emerged from under Dubstep’s all conquering wing. As you would expect he lists Burial as a key influence but to stop there would be an injustice to this emerging artist. Kommune 1 also has a deep love and knowledge of Dance music’s roots siting the likes of Frankie Knuckles, 808 State, Jamie Principle, Kraftwerk, Derrick May and Afrika Bambaataa as inspirations to his music, giving Kommune 1’s early work a hybrid feel of old Skool House and Underground Bass. Although not as polished as say a Julio Bashmore or a Midland Kommune 1’s early work is impressive for someone who has been producing for less than 12 months, and if he can continue to build on this early promise he wont remain un-signed for long.
