Minimal growler: Trikk – Bela via Dixon & Ame’s Innervisions Trikk - Bela is a weighty stripped back dance record that, despite its minimalism, carries plenty of force. The old adage 'less is more' is very much the case here. Trikk is back on Dixon and Ame's Innervisions with an 8 track double 12" 'Mundo Ritual EP', with Bela the standout moment for us. Like his 2016 Proto Rhyth (Black Version) Bela is one of those sneaky peak time dancefloor predators. Patiently stalking you with its covert minimalism before suddenly pouncing on you with growling intent. No carrion here, just a prime succulent cut. Rating Bela 3.8/5 Trikk - Bela Related ... Mixtape NYC Style: Kim Ann Foxman – The Lot Radio Do you find that mixtapes all too often flatter to deceive? Their either chock full of obvious bangers, or the DJ is trying to be so clever that their track selection lacks flow, or, and worst of all, it's just plain boring. This is so often the case that most days we simply can't be bothered. Which is a shame as mixtapes were what got us into dance music in the first place. That said, like all the best new music discoveries, we occasionally stumble across something a bit special. Previous such discoveries include Bicep - Synthol Hit, Joris Voorn - Balance 014, Todd Terje - Essential Mix, DJ ... Read more / Preview track

Percussive Sunsetting House: LNS & DJ Sotofett – Jugando Con Fuego Did you love DJ Sotofett's epic slow burning 'Current 82'? Then his 11 minute LNS & DJ Sotofett - Jugando Con Fuego collaboration is the perfect companion piece. DJ Sotofett propelled himself into our affections with his gloriously sprawling slow burner 'Current 82'. A record that harked back to the glory days of mid-90s prog house, with its moody pads, languid drums and considered main hook. No hype, no fanfare just gorgeous Boards of Canada type depth and poise. Jugando Con Fuego clocks in at just under 12 minutes and like a considered lover is in no hurry to hit climax. That said ... DJ Seinfeld announces debut LP ‘Time Spent Away From U If BBB were still putting on parties, DJ Seinfeld would be first on our wish list. For the past 18 months he has been consistently costing us a fortune in vinyl purchases, and now he has just announced his debut LP, DJ Seinfeld - Time Spent Away From U via Lobster Theremin and Meda Fury. And it is sounding every bit the party colossus we were hoping for. Time Spent Away From U is a High Octane mix of hardcore breakbeats, slamming 4x4 House, mid 90's Korg M1 Rave riffs and of course his trademark lo-fi scratchiness. According to the official blurb the record is is - "an extended ... Read more / Preview track

Scratchy peak time: Legowelt – Axumisia V S612 The enigmatic Legowelt is back in LP format and once again his idiosyncratic sound makes musical adventurers such as Thom Yorke et al, look positively pop in comparison. Yet our pick from the LP, Legowelt - Axumisia V S612, is perhaps his most linear and accessible tune to date. 'Legowelt - Legendary Freaks In The Trash Of Time' is every bit as imaginative and maddening as you'd expect, with cinematic overtones, wild percussion and haphazard beats all colliding in a menagerie of sonic evolution. Yet despite all the twists and turns Legowelt - Axumisia V S612 is a deviously disguised ...
