DJ SEINFELD Season 1 EP – Konets Sveta Minimix There seems to be a bit of a trend developing for naming yourself after a mid 90's American sitcom. We're not sure who was first but now we have 'Ross From Friends' and the subject of todays post, DJ Seinfeld. Whats next? MC Cheers, or perhaps DJ Crane... Who knows! As long as everybody knows your name, thats the important thing, right? Well and the music. So does the latest 90's sitcom riffing producer get stuck in second gear, or is DJ Seinfeld - Season 1 EP more than just an attention grabbing gimmick? A few weeks back we commented on the fact that there appeared to be a growing ... Read more / Preview track

Folamour – Shakkei [ Deep House ] French based Folamour is most likely our hottest tip for 2017. Our first encounter with his driving luscious vibes was his highly limited and much sought after Oyabun EP. In particular the Hip-Hop inspired Rue D'Amsterdam was what really caught our attention. Hit link to preview . Since then we have kept a close eye on his every move, especially as those moves tend to be vinyl only and limited. In July we snapped up Noire & Blanche 001 - Fort Bellefluer and not just a few days ago Folamour - Shakkei landed on our desk...It was like Christmas morning aged 4 all over again... Shakkei ... Hodge – Personality Shift [ Techno ] Since Hodge released his debut EP 'The Fall' in 2011, he has gone on to become one of the more consistent, and reliable underground music producers in the UK. Crafting a sound that broadly speaking gets lumped under the genre Techno, yet with further investigation reveals a deeper, more nuanced sound that is perhaps more closely related to 90's Progressive House. A genre, like Deep House, that has more identity issues than a 90's Britney Spears. Britney aside the 2014 Peverelist collaboration 'Bells (Dream Sequence)' is perhaps the best representation of this description, whilst also, in our ... Read more / Preview track

Electronic Album of the Year So far: Bwana – The Capsule’s Pride In March of this year Bwana emphatically established himself as a producer of considerable value when he unleashed his 9 track rework of the soundtrack, to what is apparently an iconic 1988 Anime film, going by the name of 'Akira'. Admittedly at BBB we know very little about the Anime genre, and therefore its alleged iconic status had little to no bearing on our opinion of the record. Which in all honesty is the ideal method in which to approach all new music discoveries - free from preconceived notions and opinions. And it was with this freedom from constraint that we discovered, as FACT ... Read more / Preview track

R&S Records Repress – Jaydee ‘Plastic Dreams’ | Classic So whats one of the toughest tricks to pull off in electronic dance music? Something R&S's Jaydee has achieved with considerable ease with his 24 year old classic - 'Plastic Dreams'. Call us cynical but it would appear, at present, that unless you're instagraming your latest modular synth jam, or vinyl purchase (guilty as charged) you can't really really consider yourself a bonafide DJ/Producer. That said, we should clarify that we are not suggesting that modular synthesis or vinyl should be consigned to the scrap heap of failed technology - such as the Minidisc, Cassette Tape, ... Albrecht La’Brooy – Encounter [Analogue Attic] New Music Every woken up feeling stressed and angry at the world for no apparent reason. Thats me today, every little noise, dog getting in the way or Apple update that refuses to work, is literally pushing me towards the edge of insanity. All I wanted to do was record a simple video to post to instagram, yet it would appear that is not to be my destiny today. Instead the dog tripped me up, my neighbours are standing directly below my window loudly discussing vegetables, yes vegetables, and every local boy racer appears to have had a birthday over night in which they all received a stupidly large ... Why are so many DJ’s boring? Feat. J TIJN’s banging ‘ER’ | New Music DJ's have your sets got a little stale and predictable? Non-DJs do you find DJ sets are often stale and predictable? No problem we have the answer: 'J Tijn - ER'. The legend that is John Digweed was recently quoted saying... "If you're the biggest DJ in the world, you're in a position where you can play stuff that people don't know and blow their minds. But if you just choose to play stuff they know, just to get a reaction, thats just being lazy".  We think he has a point, with the vast majority of sets we've heard over the years often lacking any sort of guile or imagination as the DJ ... Shedbug ‘187 District’ [Boiler Room Debuts] | New Music What do you get when you cross a vegemite sandwich with techno? You get Melbourne based Australian producer 'Shedbug' and his ominously throbbing and exhilarating '187 District'. For anyone who is a regular reader of Blah Blah Blah you'll know we often get frustrated with the bewildering appreciation of numbingly dull techno, an appreciation that is presently rampant across many platforms. For us it often feels as though those exalting the latest techno 12" have completely lost context of what makes a good record and have become so blinkered by their genre that their judgement lacks ...
