BBB Playlist ‘Old but Gold’: People Under The Staires – Acid Raindrops Everyone loves Hip-Hop, well almost everyone; we're thinking that Donald Trump probably isn't much of a fan, especially since Eminem's recent tribute. But lets not dwell on that megalomaniac longer than is necessary and instead enjoy Hip-Hop at it's rhythmical best: People Under The Staires - Acid Raindrops. 'Acid Raindrops' came to our attention whilst preparing for a recent DJ gig, and like all new DJ discoveries we literally couldn't wait to spin this one live. This record is slick, sharp and smooth. A record that sounds equally good on the headphones as it does blaring from an overly ... Read more / Preview track

BBB Playlist: 80s Funkytown Pop: Mind Enterprises – Idol Stranger Things, IT, Vinyl and terrible charity shop purchases have established a modern 80's arrival. A revival that many producers across Pop, Dance and Indie are only too keen to exploit. Many may sneer, but being an 80's kid myself such a development has conjured up great memories of buying Michael Jackson - Bad on tape, listening to Duran Duran - Reflex on repeat and hoping to get a dancing Coke Can for Christmas. Well Mind Enterprises - Idol, couldn't be any more 1980's in both tone and delivery. 'Idol' screams hipster, minus the beard, who's just got a Microkorg and some oversized ... BBB Playlist: ‘Indie Dance cracker’ Beck – Up All Night Another indie dance infused jam from the mighty Beck. Following up the cracking 'Dreams' and 'Wow' Beck is once again demonstrating his versatility and uncanny ear for a killer hook. Beck - Up All Night. You may remember a few years back that Kanye West took major offence to Beck winning the 2015 Grammy for 'Best Album'. An award that Kanye, in his infinite wisdom, thought should have gone to Beyonce. The rantings of a man who evidently knew very little about Beck and his supreme talent, talent that is once again on show here with 'Up All Night'. Like Kanye, Beck is highly experimental, ... Listen to Radiohead & Hans Zimmer’s New Song (ocean) bloom Wow, what a collaboration of minds. Radiohead and Hans Zimmer combine with Blue Planet and Sir David Attenborough to create (ocean) bloom, a reinterpretation of the bands song 'Bloom'. Commenting on the collaboration Thom Yorke and Hans had a few words to say to the BBC... "Bloom was inspired by the original Blue Planet series so it’s great to be able to come full circle with the song and reimagine it for this incredible landmark’s sequel. Hans is a prodigious composer who effortlessly straddles several musical genres so it was liberating for us all to work with such a talent and ... Read more / Preview track

BBB Playlist: Popping Introspection with M.I.A – Finally EDM type lead hook, Paper Planes gun shots and M.I.A at her melodic, thoughtful best. If you enjoyed the provocative 'Borders', then M.I.A - Finally should hit the spot also. Since 2005 M.I.A has been artist whom has frequently dipped in and out of our record box. With tracks such as Bucky Done Gun, Paper Planes (until it got over played), Jimmy, XR2, XXXO and It Takes A Muscle all getting regular spins at BBB parties. Shamefully we have to admit to never having actually seen her live. However despite such an oversight, she has always been artist we have deeply respected for her unique ... Read more / Preview track

BBB Playlist: Vince Staples – Crabs In A Bucket [Produced Bon Iver] Spiky, innovative, and damn catchy the Bon Iver produced, Vince Staples - Crabs In A Bucket, reminds us why Hip-Hop became such a phenomena in the first place. We have a love / hate relationship with Hip-Hop. Hate because the dialogue all to often gets fixated glamourising Sex, Drugs, Misogyny, Violence and other such incendiary topics. Yes when NWA said 'F*#k the Police' they had just cause, and yes still to this day racism, police brutality and drugs destructively rule many inner city streets across the globe. However this message is old in terms of presentation. When NWA, Public Enemy ... Read more / Preview track

BBB Playlist: The Surfing Magazines – New Day [Indie Rock] Beatles meets early Kings Of Leon in this raw sounding yet accomplished slice of surf rock. The Surfing Magazines - New Day is new to us and thanks to BBC Radio 6 is now firmly in various BBB playlists. According to the official blurb on their Facebook page they're a garage rock super-group. Not entirely sure what that means, I guess a supergroup of people that the vast majority of the general populace have never heard of. No offence to the Surfing Magazines but their previous groups The Wave Pictures and Slow Club are not bands we've heard of before, sorry guys. Anyways that's all ... Read more / Preview track

Essential New Music – Bandcamp Bandcamp is essentially what Soundcloud was 8 years ago, fresh, exciting and all about discovering new music. Unfortunately Soundcloud has since lost some of that original lustre, allowing Bandcamp to step into the breach. Like Soundcloud in its prime, BC is a platform for expression and discovery. If you've written some music, but dont have a record deal then Bandcamp is where you need to be. That's not to say that Bandcamp is just wall-to-wall wannabe try hards who should just get a real job. It's also a great community for signed performers and established labels. But thats only words, ... Read more / Preview track
