Essential New Music – Bandcamp Bandcamp is essentially what Soundcloud was 8 years ago, fresh, exciting and all about discovering new music. Unfortunately Soundcloud has since lost some of that original lustre, allowing Bandcamp to step into the breach. Like Soundcloud in its prime, BC is a platform for expression and discovery. If you've written some music, but dont have a record deal then Bandcamp is where you need to be. That's not to say that Bandcamp is just wall-to-wall wannabe try hards who should just get a real job. It's also a great community for signed performers and established labels. But thats only words, ... Read more / Preview track

Soaring acoustic Anguish: Billy Lockett – More Ever broken up with someone and missed them so much that the anguish physically hurts? Or perhaps someone has passed away unexpectantly and you feel as though you heart has been torn asunder. It's in times like these that we seek comfort from Friends, Family, Vices and often Music. It would appear Billy Lockett - More is expressing just this. Life is both beautiful and devastating; we only have to flick on the news to know that whilst we maybe doing ok others most decidable are not and vice versa. Only the other day we discussed if 'Music can actually Change the World' an article in which ... Read more / Preview track

Listen: Prophets of Rage – Unfuck The World 'The World Is Not Going To Change Itself - That's Up To You', is the closing line on Prophets of Rage incendiary new record - Unfuck The World. With a video directed by the equally polarising Michael Moore, Prophets of Rage - Unfuck The World is a timely and vehement public address call to the biggest cancer of the 21st century, APATHY. A sentiment recently echoed in the Shame single we reviewed earlier this month 'Tasteless'. Yet despite all the rage, shouty vocals and swear words, does this type of music really change anything? In the year 2000 the global fear for the future was a ... Read more / Preview track

Listen New Music: The War On Drugs – Holding On The War On Drugs - Lost In The Dream was easily our's and many others LP of 2014. And despite three years having elapsed since its release we still haven't grown tired of its woozy road trip swagger. Trust us when we say that in a time when the long player is loosing currency and the playlist is tipped for global domination this is one band and one album that emphatically bucked prevailing trends. But can they do it again? Does their latest single The War On Drugs - Holding On, suggest they can go where so few bands have gone before... As we all know the music industry is littered with ... Read more / Preview track

[Listen] Shouty opinionated post-punk: Shame – Tasteless Shouty, aggressive, forthright ranting from South London 5 piece, can sometimes signal up tight teenagers with a parental axe to grind. Not here. 'Shame' like any self-respecting associated punk act have plenty of bite and trousers. According to the bands lead singer Charlie Steen Shame - Tasteless is about: "protesting against people's constant acceptance and indifference towards deeply troubling issues within society as well as politics, only seeming to care when it is something that will affect them. a comment disregarding some people's over-sensitivity when a person or group of people ... [Listen] Erol Alkan produced: Ride – All I Want In a time when following your favourite indie band is about as cool as voting Conservative, it's interesting that one of the UK's most revered early 90's pioneers 'Ride' has elected to make 2017 their comeback year. In fact guitar music is at such an all time low in the UK that apart from the Foals we're struggling to think of any other UK bands that regularly make a noticeable impression on our pop addled charts. Perhaps Kasabian. But even still the traditional four piece would appear to be a declining aspiration for young musicians, not to mention the waning relevance of the LP format. But ... Listen to DJ Shadow & Nas – Systematic At times we need music that tells us how it us, something incendiary that doesn't beat around the bush. Whilst it's nice to have uplifting records that make us feel better, at times we need music to be a cathartic release. Articulating the fears, issues and frustrations that can dog our daily walk through life. Hip-Hop is arguably the most consistent genre when it comes to saying how it is and DJ Shadow & Nas - Systematic is another such Hip-Hop record. DJ Shadow kicks things off with a simple yet irresistible guitar loop, a loop that is later accompanied by an equally simple yet ... Read more / Preview track

Pop-Sicle: Part 1 – Katy Perry, RAC, Sigrid Do you have a sweet tooth? One that needs a regular sugary fix? Well look no further than this weeks three irresistibly candy coated pop-sicle bangers from Katy Perry - Chained To The Rhythm, RAC - This Song and Sigrid - Don't Kill My Vibe. As a primarily underground House Music, Techno and Electronic Music blog talking about the latest pop bangers is potentially a risky proposition. Traditionally a love for tight production skills and sick beats is not synonymous with an equal interest in saccharine coated melodic hooks that even your mum would like. That said, apart from the odd diehard ... Read more / Preview track
