Shadowy yet glorious Techno: Dorisburg – Venom To steal Phonica Records description: "Dorisburg - Venom burrows deep into an underground cavern, bass pulses dripping like stalactites into endless black pools of atmosphere". Dorisburg first came to our attention via his debut LP Irrbloss via John Talabot's 'Hivern Discs'. It was a cracking record with cuts Kassiopeia and Gloson perhaps mostly closely resembling this latest outing. As the Phonica description suggests Venom is dark, brooding and most decidedly birthed in the Techno underworld. Whilst the flip 'Serum', although slightly less shadowy, is not exactly the light antidote as ... Read more / Preview track

Serious dancefloor heat: Italo Johnson – Vol 11 Please sir can I have some more. Sure, no problem, here's your 11th helping. Italo Johnson serves up yet another deliciously irresistible dance tool: Italo Johnson - Vol 11 As limited vinyl series go this is perhaps the most consistent and reliable one out there. We personally own at least 4 Italo Johnson instalments, and will be most certainly adding a 5th for the A-Side alone. Furthermore Vol 11 continues our unwittingly planned series - 'what made dance music so great in the first place'. Like our articles earlier this week on Kink - Perth (Beat Mix) and Rimbaudian - Unknown, we ... Read more / Preview track

Listen to Radiohead & Hans Zimmer’s New Song (ocean) bloom Wow, what a collaboration of minds. Radiohead and Hans Zimmer combine with Blue Planet and Sir David Attenborough to create (ocean) bloom, a reinterpretation of the bands song 'Bloom'. Commenting on the collaboration Thom Yorke and Hans had a few words to say to the BBC... "Bloom was inspired by the original Blue Planet series so it’s great to be able to come full circle with the song and reimagine it for this incredible landmark’s sequel. Hans is a prodigious composer who effortlessly straddles several musical genres so it was liberating for us all to work with such a talent and ... Read more / Preview track

DJ Seinfeld aka Rimbaudian – Unknown [Hardcore / House] Need a no nonsense hardcore tinged dancefloor assassinator? Then DJ Seinfeld, the man with the seemingly largest hard-drive of unreleased music in clubland, has just the weapon you're looking for. Rimbaudian - Houz Low EP . It's probably fair to say that since late 2016 and early 2017 DJ Seinfeld has easily become one of the more recognisable underground names. By which we mean that amongst his piers, Ross From Friends, DJ Boring and the like he's the one with the greater output, recognition and therefore booking potential. On this blog alone we have featured his records: DJ Seinfeld - ... Read more / Preview track

Boards of Canada meets Mathew Jonson: Deepspace – Shinjuku Lights As our post title suggests the opening track on the EP 'Shinjuku Lights 01' is firmly in the Boards of Canada, Mathew Jonson realm of deep, spacey and swirling atmospherics. Sort of tune you could also imagine Joris Voorn weaving into one of his epic track busting mixtapes. To use a classic dance music reviewer's cliche, Deepspace - Shinjuku Lights 01 is other-wordly. With its deep, progressive, trancey structure elegantly sweeping you into another dimension. A dimension that effortlessly dissolves your surroundings with a sense of introspective discovery. Thats a load of big fluffy ... Read more / Preview track

BBB Playlist: Popping Introspection with M.I.A – Finally EDM type lead hook, Paper Planes gun shots and M.I.A at her melodic, thoughtful best. If you enjoyed the provocative 'Borders', then M.I.A - Finally should hit the spot also. Since 2005 M.I.A has been artist whom has frequently dipped in and out of our record box. With tracks such as Bucky Done Gun, Paper Planes (until it got over played), Jimmy, XR2, XXXO and It Takes A Muscle all getting regular spins at BBB parties. Shamefully we have to admit to never having actually seen her live. However despite such an oversight, she has always been artist we have deeply respected for her unique ... Read more / Preview track

Concrete cracking Bass: Kink – Perth (Beat Mix) Running Back Oh yes. Need a drum tool that's not just a drum tool. Something that gets the pulse racing and then delivers the mother of all bass drops. Kink - Perth (Beat Mix) via Running Back Records. Kink is renowned for his live performances, live production and general propensity to write and release dancefloor winners. That said in recent times a number of his releases have passed us by without leaving much of a discernible mark. And truth be told the disco led opener falls into that same category also. A little too obvious, cliché even. However the Beat Mix is another story ... Read more / Preview track

BBB Playlist: Vince Staples – Crabs In A Bucket [Produced Bon Iver] Spiky, innovative, and damn catchy the Bon Iver produced, Vince Staples - Crabs In A Bucket, reminds us why Hip-Hop became such a phenomena in the first place. We have a love / hate relationship with Hip-Hop. Hate because the dialogue all to often gets fixated glamourising Sex, Drugs, Misogyny, Violence and other such incendiary topics. Yes when NWA said 'F*#k the Police' they had just cause, and yes still to this day racism, police brutality and drugs destructively rule many inner city streets across the globe. However this message is old in terms of presentation. When NWA, Public Enemy ... Read more / Preview track
