John Talabot & Axel Boman announce Talaboman – The Night Land LP Earlier yesterday John Talabot and Axel Boman finally announced details of their long awaited return as Talaboman. A collaboration that first emerged in 2014 with their instant underground hit Sideral. Sideral further established both artists as significant contributors to the underground dance scene, and subsequently had many, including ourselves, eagerly anticipating its follow up. That follow up has been 2 years in the making and has arrived in the often tricky dance music format of an album. So can Talaboman - The Night Land deliver where many electronic LPs have not? In approaching ... Read more / Preview track

Mixcloud SELECTS Vol VI – Black Coffee [ Mixtape ] A couple of weeks ago our description for the party bouncing Mixcloud SELECTS Vol. IV - Jackmaster mix was arguably more metaphorically nonsensical than - 'baby you're a firework' . That said it was a proper banging party mix, that if you still haven't spun, we strongly recommend you do. However we're not here to talk Jackmaster, this week is all about Mixcloud SELECTS Vol VI - Black Coffee. A mix that honestly had us hooked from the opening number, which if anyone has an ID for, please get in touch. Hailing from Johannesburg South Africa Black Coffee is a name that is increasingly ... Rave tinged Techno with Radio Slave – Another Club Yesterday we referenced Daft Punk's unreleased 1994 demo 'Drive' in relation to Why UK Club Culture is Dying? And today our featured new music, Radio Slave - Another Club, is a mid 90's infused Techno/Rave banger talking about going clubbing. Radio Slave - Another Club is part of a double A Side celebrating 100 releases on Radio Slaves highly regarded Rekids imprint. A track that if Christopher Nolan were to make it into a movie, he could call it 'Techno Begins'. Raw vintage kicks relentlessly pound you with the force of a coastal storm surge, whilst an insistent voice endlessly intones ... Read more / Preview track

Who killed UK Clubbing & why so many Nightclub Closures? Annie Mac recently recorded a short BBC documentary, Who Killed The Night, in which she investigates why UK clubbing is haemorrhaging venues and clubbers. During the show Annie considers a number of possible explanations as to why almost 50% of UK clubs have closed since 2005, leaving us with just 1753 in 2017. As you'd expect the usual arguments are raised - property developers, local counsel meddling etc. However it was a simple phrase that 'Sink The Pink' promoter Amy Redmond used that struck home for us - 'Punk-Spirit'. Whilst considering this short film we also stumbled across the ... Read more / Preview track

Daft Punk – Drive (Unreleased 1994) Soma Like the post Christmas fitness regime January has been a very dry month for new music. Apart from the recently featured 80's synth house 'Aquazoo' via Bristol's Banoffee Pies Records and Readings BBC Music Sound of 2017 contenders, The Amazons, we have found precious little else. Thankfully whilst trawling the net today we stumbled across Soma Records forthcoming Soma25 Compilation. Celebrating 25 years of existence and perhaps most significantly being the first label to release a Daft Punk record, the compilation features a Slam re-interpretation of the previously unreleased track: Daft ... Banoffee, Frankfurt, Axel Foley, 808? – Aquazoo We deduce that today's title probably makes no sense what so ever! Bit too Benedict Sherlock for the average reader. Apologies. Basically today's new music find comes via the rather fantastical Banoffee Pies Records, sounds like it was plucked directly from the 80's, would be played Live At Robert Johnson and was composed on a legitimate Roland 808.  Furthermore if we had simple written: DJ OK & Rasputin - Aquazoo, would you have even bothered to go any further? Mostly likely not, and therefore we felt the need to be a little more creative with our headline. In recent months Banoffee ... Read more / Preview track

Rumble in Reading with The Amazons – Little Something Ever had one of those days when everything just seems grey? January has a tendency to have that affect, particularly in the UK. Ive never enjoyed wintry British Januarys, especially since I spent 2015's January in Sydney Australia. So whats the antidote? A) Fly to Australia? Don't think I haven't considered it. B) A Sunbed. Perhaps, but I dont particularly want to have a Trump like orange hue to my appearance. Or C) Hibernation? The actual answer, believe it or not, is Reading! Yes you heard correctly - Reading. 60’s concrete estates, forlorn terraces, Indian Takeaways and a High Street ... Read more / Preview track

Mixcloud SELECTS Vol IV – Jackmaster [ Mixtape ] Once upon a time in a decade not that long ago, DJs were DJs and producers were producers. Producers made the records for DJs to spin and DJs spun those records with great dexterity and flare. All was well with the world... Until one day the wicked witch of the western world hatched an evil plan, a plan that caught everyone napping. And with one bite of the forbidden Apple, DJs became Producers and Producers became DJs. At first, like any great evil, no one noticed the change or even questioned it. But as the years rolled on cracks began to appear, and balance lost... Thankfully, like any ...
