Best Music 2016 – Indie, Rock, Pop & Hip-Hop So here it is, not Merry Christmas!, but our long awaited run down of the best music 2016; of the non-club persuasion. Everyone loves a cathartic list, whether it be ticking off the daily chores or collating your favourite songs, take our Greatest Remixes of all Time, or our Best Angry Songs In The World Ever that we posted earlier this year, as a case in point. Whatever the list, we humans can't live without them, why?... who knows. Perhaps its because we like things to be succinctly packaged, or that we're checking others endorse our fragile opinions! Whatever the reasons WE LOVE THEM. So ... Read more / Preview track

Vinyl outselling Digital Downloads…fact or fiction? The Guardian, and many other respected media sources, universally reported that for the first time in its history vinyl had outsold its modern rival - the Digital Download. According to official figures vinyl raked in a tidy £2.5m, whilst its Digital rival fell from £4.4m the previous year to £2.1m in 2016. A victory for analogue and the 2016 retro generation?... Perhaps. But we're not so sure... For starters who is buying these records and what exactly are they buying? Is the growth in vinyl good news for emerging or established acts? And why is it none of these reports mentioned ... Read more / Preview track

Bonobo – Surface (feat. Nicole Miglis) [ Listen Now ] Typically as the end of a year approaches our bodies and minds, particularly in the UK, begin to shift down a few gears. Apart from frantic Christmas shopping, the donning of cliched Christmas jumpers and the trepidation of awkward family gatherings are work ethic begins to drop off a little. It's a though Christmas triggers a collective agreed consciousness that working hard is no longer required. A fact that probably infuriates many an overly enthusiastic middle manager. Yet despite this general slowing of the pace it would appear Bonobo, in stark contrast, has no intention of slowing down, ... Read more / Preview track

Justice – Essential Mix 2016 [ Mixtape ] So Justice are back on the Essential Mix for the first since 2007. Initially this mix was slated to drop the week before their recently released third LP - Woman, but was understandable delayed in order to prioritise completing said LP. Unfortunately upon hearing the new album it would appear that the extra time taken was insufficient to save, what is in our opinion, all skirt and no trousers. Listen Here: . Gone was the energy and bombast of their 2007 debut and in its place was a limp pastiche of Daft Punk chilling at James Murphy's house with a bottle of red and a cheeseboard. An ... Banoffee Pies – Black Label 02.1 [ Tech-House ] Bristol based Banoffee Pies are rapidly establishing themselves as the go to label if you need to spice up a flagging DJ set. Throwing together flavour combinations that on paper shouldn't work, but in reality are irresistibly moreish... Dont believe us? Than check Adam Stromstedt's fantastic Hip-Hop influenced Rent, which we featured earlier in the year. Admittedly, as we said in our previous feature, there is a predominately bar feel to their output, and therefore if you're a BANGER based specialist, they may not be the label for you. That said the recently released Black Label 02.1 ... Read more / Preview track
