High Bias – 3000 AD taken from ‘Purling Hiss’ LP | Indie Is it me or is the music industry presently leaning more strongly towards bands with a female lead? Much like its more visual relation, the 'Movie Industry', girl leads are becoming ever prevalent. Take for example Adele and Florence headlining Glastonbury in the past 2 years and the heavy support for bands such as Warpaint, Wolf Alice, Christine and The Queens among others, not to mention mega movie blockbusters Hunger Games, Ghostbusters and Star Wars all opting for female leads. You have to wonder what is driving this trend? Is it equality for equality sake, a genuine cultural shift, ... Read more / Preview track

Move D presents House Grooves Vol. 1 feat. Gerd Janson | New Music Its the weekend, well close enough, and in the UK the sun is still shining, this isn't weather related small talk by the way, rather an observation that the British summer is more determined to hang around than customers in a coffee shop who know it's closed but willfully refuse to budge regardless of this knowledge...you know who you are! Why is the sun shining relevant to this post, well Move D has just reissued his 1993 classic 'House Grooves Vol. 1' EP, a record that is without doubt of a summery disposition. Admittedly in 1993 Move D was not an artist we were personally aware ... Read more / Preview track

Franz Ferdinand, R.E.M, Death Cab anti Trump campaign | New Music Issuing anti Donald Trump rhetoric is presently the new black for anyone remotely famous or slightly opinionated. In fact it wouldn't be a surprise if in the coming weeks people don't start wearing t-shirts supporting their moral outrage whilst heading to their favourite coffee house. Its not that we have a problem with anti Donald Trump sentiments, far from it, we've got our t-shirt on now, it is inexplicable that he presently has a 50/50 chance of becoming the next American President. Not only has he accused the incumbent President 'Barack Obama' of founding 'Isis', yes really, he has ... Read more / Preview track

What is Deep House? feat. YYY 398A – YYY France | New Music Anyone else confused as to what officially constitutes a Deep House record these days? If not take a listen to what Juno & Beatport classify as Deep House and you'll understand our confusion... For sure about 10 years ago if you bought a Deep House record you could confidently expect it to have a more complex structure than your typical House tune, with increased instrumentation and often a jazzy or lounge type feel making up the overall sound. Yet according to Beatport and many associated DJ's, Deep House is anything but jazzy and complex, in fact Beatport Deep House basically sounds ... Read more / Preview track

Adam Stromstedt – Rent [ Banoffee Pies ] New Music Banoffee Pies, now thats a name for a record label, although Im more of a Cheesecake person myself, that said, to use a cheesy based simile, Adam Stromstedt - Rent is exceedingly tasty like...you guessed it, a Banoffee Pie. But what makes it so moorish? As a label 'Banoffee Pies' has been receiving quite a bit of hype recently; although its not a label we have previously featured on BBB. Not because their output doesn't necessarily justify the hype, but more because as soon as we see something getting hyped our ingrained scepticism kicks in. Why? simple, in our experience anything that ... Read more / Preview track
