‘Blah Blah Blah’ – Best of the Rest 2015 | New Music Much like a pair of well worn converse trainers we are reluctant to change our musical tastes for something new even when faced with thread bare returns. We doggedly cling to what we know and are comfortable with, refuting all suggestions that we need to move on. However its important to realise that this type of behaviour can have dire future consequences; firstly your once proud musical superiority starts to be questioned, secondly, and perhaps most significantly, new music might start sounding like NOISE and thirdly something you actually like, but can't admit to, has to be categorised as ... Blah Blah Blah Best of 2015 – Electronic Singles Initially my plan was to do the traditional end of year 'Best Of' countdown, however trying to decide which track I loved more felt a bit like trying to decide which of your children you love the most...not that I have children, but you get my point. So with no further explanation please find in no particular order our Top electronic tracks for 2015... There were a couple of other tracks , that we couldn't find on Soundcloud... New Artists – How To Get Your Music Noticed…[Part 1] As a new artist trying to get your music heard can be a daunting challenge. Whilst in theory the internet and streaming has given your music a huge potential platform from which to showcase your beats, you may have discovered that the stage is rather large and your voice is not carrying particularly well. Like many other new artists you may have encountered some of the following common pitfalls; minimal YouTube plays, fake likes on your Facebook page, followers on instagram who only seem to be interested in offering you free likes, silence from every blog you've ever emailed, no record deal ... Blah Blah Blah – Blah Blah Blah 2011-2016 [Mixtape] No mazy thought provoking insights today, its my Birthday (Dec 1st) and Ive recorded a mix documenting BBB's 5 years as a label. A label in recent months I have begun to progressively doubt, they say that you're often your own worse critic, well thats definitely the case with me, however as I started to select the tracks, which range from Techno, though House to Electronica, it started to become very evident that the artists we have worked with have written some damn fine music. So if you can suspend your belief that this is just an articulate PR post and give the music a try, Im confident my ... Read more / Preview track

Here’s One I Made Earlier – Is the Mixtape Still Relevant? Its been over a year since the last Blah Blah Blah mixtape and as the weeks and months tumbled past our faith in the mixtape began to wain in the face of an ever growing and bewildering range of mix options. A range so bewildering that finding anything of lasting value was becoming increasingly difficult, and like the number of channels on your TV we were becoming so desensitised to the shear volume of options, that we were either settling for the C.S.I of mixtapes, razzle dazzle with no memorable value, or simply switching off. So what does these mean for the mixtape, is it still ... Read more / Preview track

PREVIEW – ‘Albany’ taken from our 14th Record ‘Because Because’… So far the response to our 14th record has been really exciting with Laurent Garnier, Joris Voorn, Tensnake, Carl Craig amongst others all showing their support for the music. Which to be honest is a huge relief as you're never quite sure if the rest of the world (internet) will agree with your enthusiasm for the music. Admittedly Fortunate War's sound is probably not on message with a lot of whats out there, sorry, but when you've got greats such as those mentioned above giving it a seal of approval, who cares... 'Albany' is the closing track on the EP and can be best described as an ... Read more / Preview track

Has Music Lost Its Meaning?… Read a very interesting article on BBC News titled 'Why Its time to turn the music off". Essentially the article was lambasting the current state of musical expression and consumption likening it to fast food; quick, simple, banal, tasteless and devoid of any real lasting quality. Is this a fair assessment or is it just the musing of a cantankerous 50 something who thinks all modern music is just noise? We all know, without going into an intense music history lesson, that music traditionally originates from community with melody and rhythm helping to communicate a message. This community ... First listen to Blah Blah Blah’s 14th Record… At times running a record label seems like the most illogical use of ones precious time and resources, especially when your primary focus is supporting relatively unknown artists and trying to get the music buying public to try something new. For those who dont have their own label its a bit like trying to get all your mates to agree where to go for New Years Eve, an impossible task of conflicting opinions, tastes and fear of the unknown...what if its no good! That said running a record label does bring great reward, especially when you see prominent music types supporting your music, and the ... Read more / Preview track
