Breach – DJ Kicks (!K7) Album Review…Defected or Detroit? This year has been, by all accounts, a massive one for Ben Westbeech. Letting his crooning, vocal persona take a back seat and instead letting Breach be the driving force has paid dividends. His release with Dark Sky produced two widely played top-tier tracks, and the follow up 'Jack' was truly an International smash, gathering a glossy video and a number 9 slot in the UK charts. Inevitably with such success the vultures are already circling citing that his sound is now more Defected than Detroit, or something along those lines…... You could be forgiven for looking at the tracklist and ... Read more / Preview track

PREVIEW Simian Mobile Disco & Cosmin TRG – Surströmming [Delicatessen] With the toned down and expertly produced Gordian released earlier this year through his regular output 50 Weapons, a strong back catalogue of harsher releases on labels such as Hessle Audio and Rush Hour behind him and an ever increasing standing as one of the best DJ / producers out there, SMD have scooped up Nicolae aka Cosmin TRG at an opportune moment and joined forces with him to fabricate something quite special for their latest Delicacies release, forthcoming at the beginning of December. With their curious Delicatessen label venture documenting their fodder ventures from around ... Read more / Preview track

Wayward – Love Jones (Aesop) PREVIEW Wayward, new one to BBB towers and within 8 seconds of clicking the embedded Soundcloud play button we were hooked. Firstly this is not ominously led underground techno, which we like also, but actually a sun drenched slice of vocal led house. There is a whiff of the 90's in its lead piano hook, but its not so overt you want to scream pastiche, but rather you get washed away in its soothingly warm stabs and chords whilst a soulful lead female hook seduce's you with its earnest melody. Hailing from Leeds, Waywards debut single is a lush and highly accomplished slice of house that wouldn't sit ... Read more / Preview track

Claude VonStroke – Essential Mix (Oct 2013) Pete Tong and Radio 1 celebrated 20 years of the Essential Mix last weekend at the Warehouse Project with 1993's original inductee headlining proceedings….. one Mr Pete Tong. As you would imagine from an Essential Mix vs Warehouse Project collaboration the lineup was a little mental with Eats Everything, Sasha, James Zabiela, Skream, Booka Shade among others, all playing. Whilst the lineup certainly had the required gravitas it felt a little too present day led, with artists on the bill who haven't even recorded an Essential Mix! However tickets have to be sold and any promoter will tell ... Read more / Preview track

Paleman – The Day (Swamp 81) Preview Paleman vs Pearson Sound a percussive fight to the death. Its fair to say that both artists prefer a good drum pattern to a swirling synth patch, and I guess for some listeners that may seem a bit limiting and devoid of musicality, even Resident Advisor gave the last Paleman EP 'Half Out' a paltry 2.5/5. However we at Blah Blah Blah certainly don't agree with that sentiment, and whole heartedly disagree with the RA score of 2.5. Yes occasionally tracks from both artists can come off as glorified DJ tools, however this is only sometimes and the majority of the time what these two can do with a ... Read more / Preview track
