Google failing to combat ‘Illegal Downloading’ says UK Government Firstly we should point out that we found this information via FACT Mag, normally we would just retweet it, however it makes for compelling reading and we also had a few points of our own to raise... Basically, despite's Googles numerous claims over the years to be combatting online piracy the 'Department for Culture Media and Sport' in a recent report on examining the health of the UK's creative economy has slammed its efforts, describing Google’s arguments as “flimsy” and their anti-piracy efforts as “derisorily ineffective.” One of Googles prime arguments for tackling piracy ... Electronic Artist of the Week #24 – Tourist Its been a while since our last entry into our 'Electronic Artist of the Week' series, largely due to the fact that recently no one artist has consistently caught our attention regularly enough to persuade us to include them. This is not to say our list is the definitive guide of the latest and greatest, however over our 23 entries its been pleasing to see that our faith has generally been well placed with previous featured artists such as Maxxi Soundsystem, TEED, Disclosure, Boddika, Daniel Avery, Dusky, Midland, Huxley, George Fitzgerald, Julio Bashmore among others all seeing significant ... Vessel – Misery Is A Communicable Disease (Preview) The sun maybe showing its face one last time for us today, however it does not mean we need to get all bright and breezy and dream of long summer evening walks along the beach. As Im sure we are all aware, not everything is a party and as Vessel's upcoming record suggests 'Misery Is A Communicable Disease' things can often be quite grey and dismal. 'Misery Is A Communicable Disease' is most certainly not what you would describe as an overtly optimistic record, with grimey distortion, and shattering atmospherics clanging against one another in a frustrated rage of someone trapped with no hope ... Maxxi Soundsystem & Name One – One In Three (Preview) Back in 2011 Maxxi Soundsystem kicked off our 'Electronic Artist of the Week Series' with his then 'Criticize' rework getting Radio 1 all hot and bothered. Since then he has rapidly risen through the ranks with records such as 'Regrets We Have No Use For' (Hypercolour) and 'Stellas Way' on Maceo Plex's (Ellum Audio) establishing him as an elite operator within the House community. As if to ratify this assumption, Maxxi has elected to put his latest record out via perhaps the most recognisable brand in House there is, Defected. Now for the more underground among you the word Defected has most ... Read more / Preview track

Claude VonStroke – Urban Animal LP (Preview) Dirtybird Records chief Claude VonStroke has been teasing us with the prospect of his long awaited follow up album ‘Urban Animals’ for quite some time now, particularly catching our attentions with snippets of ‘The Clapping Track’ and ‘Can’t Wait’ surfacing online back in July. Barclay Crenshaw is somewhat a satisfier of the masses amongst the underground electronic music community. With his distinguished sound renowned for befitting many a club related setting, some would expect the bewhiskered bossman to have lost at least some integrity but he has stomped back onto the scene ... Daniel Avery – Drone Logic LP (Phantasy Sound) Review Over the past year-and-a-bit Daniel Avery has coursed through a number of EPs that have yet to leave our record box, a stellar contribution to the fabriclive series, and has found himself firmly imprinted on Erol Alkan’s Phantasy Sound label. If you’re at all familiar with last year’s releases “Need Electric” or “Water Jump”, you’ll already half know what to expect from this album - and this can only be a good thing. Avery has zeroed in on his sound - the best way to describe this would be a sort of “British” take on Gui Boratto/John Tejada, with a little Chemical ... Read more / Preview track

Bowski – Juno’s Jupiter / Bacchus (BBB009) PREVIEW Our 9th release is mastered and ready to go, and we are very proud to announce the return of Bristol's very own dude, Bowski. Previously an established 'One To Watch', Bowski rapidly rose to recognition with his 'Leggings / Talkbox' & 'Poppies' singles, with the likes of Annie Mac, Pete Tong, Eats Everything, and Will Saul all spinning his tunes, not to mention heavy rotation for his XY-ME and Cassius remixes. Since then Bowski's existence was beginning to become the stuff of myth and legend, that is until 'Juno's Jupiter & Bacchus' crashed into our inbox. Bowski is firmly back, and ... Pearson Sound – Lola / Power Drumsss / Starburst (Hessle Audio) Single Review Pearson Sound is one of those artists that you either love or you hate. His sparse beats and general lack of melody are never going to attract him to the masses, and even for his cult underground following he occasionally over indulges his own tried and tested formulae. However Pearson Sound and his former identity Ramadanman have never really changed the methodology, which you have to admire when you consider he has consistently generated interesting beats from essentially beats. Most notably the records 'Untitled', 'Void 23', 'Gridlock', 'Blank', 'More Than You Know' and of course his HUGE ... Read more / Preview track
