Tech – Creating Melodies from Chord Progressions (Dubspot) However much us Brits criticise the US for commercialising dance music in the last 3 years with the likes of Skrillex, David Guetta and Avicii capitalising on what was a very wide gap in the market, collaborating with some of the most sought after artists in the music industry. We must not forget that the US were the ones that gave birth to disco, house and techno, which all electronic artists of today have undoubtedly been influenced by. They have also produced some extremely gifted artists with the likes of Carl Craig, Danny Daze, Gaslamp Killer, Soul Clap, Pillow Talk, Flying Lotus, ... Read more / Preview track

WeAreBlahBlahBlah EP43 – Mixed Charlie Banks Its been a while but the latest mix is finally here and it comes via yet another rising talent, 19 yr old Hypercolour signed DJ / Producer Charlie Banks. Charlie first came to our attention when he played the Hypercolour stage at Glade this year and we were so impressed by his ability behind the decks that we booked him to support Art Department later in the year, where he again threw down easily the best set of the evening. For those who havent caught Charlie in the mix before we strongly recommend latching your ears on this mix of smooth yet powerful house beats. Charlie is also signed to ... Read more / Preview track

Four Tet – Lion (Jamie XX remix) We recently featured Four Tets sublime remix of Falty DL's Straight & Arrow, however on this occasion its Four Tet himself getting the once over. Jamie XX takes the originals dominant 4 to the floor beat and largely pushes it into the dark recesses of what is now an eery swirling piece of cinematic electronica. Not the sort of track you are likely to break out often in a DJ set, but rather an engaging piece of electronic music that would sit well as a building block within a carefully crafted mixtape. Blah Blah Blah presents TEED (Live Review) BlahBlahBlah Present: Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs Concorde2 & Audio Brighton Friday 12th October 2012 My eyes couldn’t quite believe it when I read an event invitation from the Blah Blah Blah crew for a double dosing of one of my favourite artists of all time… All in ONE night! The news that Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs (T.E.E.D) was to once more embrace the chilly Brighton seafront inevitably got me buzzing for at least a month before the event itself… (As you can probably imagine, it was a long month.) The crew with their ears held closely to the ground ... Read more / Preview track

Breach & Midland – 101 / Somewhere (Naked Naked) Do you know where your teenager is at 5am in the morning; most likely you'll find them walking off the effects of an evening spent listening to the latest pounding pounding techno beats. It may no longer be Soulwax/2manyDJs setting the tone for the younger generation these days, but the principles are the same, loud heavy beats that parents will most likely describe as noise. The next UK artists to throw their hat into the ever growing circle of UK techno are Breach aka Ben Westbeech and Midland, although Midland has already dabbled with his recent Pariah collaboration. Lead track '101' is ... Read more / Preview track

Julio Bashmore – Husk (Broadwalk Records) Baby......by now you should know that indelible opening refrain from Julio Bashmore's summer smash 'Au Seve', arguably the summer anthem of 2012. To some Au Seve may have crossed the somewhat ambiguous line of commercial vs credible, however whatever your opinion, between 'Battle For Middle You' and 'Au Seve', Bashmore has established himself as a positive momentous force within electronic club music. Julio is now preparing his next single 'Husk'. Like Au Seve Husk feels quite simple in construction, with a standard beat clap hi-hat combination driving things forward, whilst a one note ...
