Claude VonStroke & Jaw – Le Fantôme (Dirtybird) Claude VonStroke it would appear is not someone who is happy to rest on his laurels admiring a job well done, which he could be forgiven for doing considering Dirtybird's current resurgence under his direction. Its this unshakeable determination to continually push electronic music forward that has made his label an enduring force within club culture since its inception in 2005. Claude VonStroke's latest venture is a collaboration with lead singer Jaw from the 'Notorious dOP Crew', who it would appear despite numerous fact finding internet searches are not that notorious (Feel free to ... Scuba – Personality (Album Review) Any record that chooses to open by bleating about a lack of originality and excitement in music is either the work of an arrogant, disillusioned creator, or a true trendsetter with their tongue lodged deep inside their cheek. Despite its somewhat ominous opening, “Personality”, the third album from Paul Rose (aka Scuba) largely delivers on his implied promises of an original record to get excited about. Rose has achieved that often clichéd desire of artists by being extremely hard to pigeon hole with a particular sound, but still leaving identifiable fingerprints on every work. Opener ... Futureboogie Recordings – 10 Years On Mon 27th Feb Futureboogie are releasing a rather attractive compilation album to celebrate their 10th year in the music business. If you're not from Bristol you're probably thinking "10 years? Really?". They first hit our radar last year with their debut release as a record label, Julio Bashmore's Father Father EP. However, they've been throwing parties and managing artists long before Julio found house and synthesis. The compilation itself is the kind of gold you'd expect from an agency representing such a quality list of artists. Typesun and Crackazat open the compilation with two ... Read more / Preview track

Kodiak – Spreo Superbus (Girl Unit Remix) Kodiak is not an artist we or anyone else seems to know much about, other than they are a London duo who make brazen main room bass music. However as good as this debut offering is, it’s the remixes from Actress and Girl Unit that steal the show. First up Actress draws the track back within itself employing a delicate piano riff to backdrop the vocal with emotional 80's synth nostalgia before laying all thoughts of melancholy to waste with a buzzing front of centre synth line. Next up see's the welcome return of Girl Unit with his high energy take on the original. Maintaining the ... Read more / Preview track

Paper Tiger – Illuminated (Blacksmif Re-Lick) Blacksmif is an artist we came across last year and duly featured him in our Electronic Artist of The Week series. For anyone who has visited Blacksmif's Soundcloud page since will know that he is a prolific studio dweller who's music flirts on the edge of known wisdom, taking flamboyant percussive and melodic risks within a bass driven jazz tinged environment. Previously we commented "that once the right people find out about him he will become a much more recognisable figure in electronic music". It would appear that 2012 will be the start of that journey with a number of releases signed ... Read more / Preview track

Daniel Avery (Stopmakingme) – Airstrike Daniel Avery also known as Stopmakingme is a young man who has been on a mission to conquer the electronic scene ever since those early days spinning records in his native Bournemouth. Since then he has based himself in London and firmly established himself as one of the Capitals most consistent residents with long-term residences for both Fabric and Bugged Out. An Avery set is always a finely judged blend of disparate themes taking in influences from his encyclopedic knowledge of all things electronic. Its this almost obsessive desire to harness every bit of music he comes into contact with ... Read more / Preview track

Juk Juk – Unwrap / Fall Juk Juk is an artist we first announced on our blog back in August 2011 with his sublime debut release 'Winter Spring' on Four Tet's label Text. Following his critically acclaimed debut Juk Juk aka London's Caleb Waterman returns with his second single 'Unwrap/Fall' on his newly created 'Nommos Label'. As you would expect from someone Four Tet admires 'Unwrap' is awash with subtle pads, percussive tweaks and suitably disjointed cut up vocal loops, a single for anyone who enjoys the lighter side of electronica. Juk Juk - Unwrap / Fall (Out 12th ... Read more / Preview track

Electronic Artist of the Week #16 – Huxley Huxley (aka Michael Dodman) looks set to be the new kid on the block when it comes to laying down expertly judged House music. Since early 2011 he has been catching the eye of label heavy weights such as 2020 Vision and Left Room Recordings with a brand of Deep House that carefully treads the fine line between commercial viability and underground credibility. His music clearly draws influence from a variety of genres with elements of garage, rave, and bass all making it into the mix, resulting in a freshness that is all to often missing in a genre that often perpetually repeats itself. With ... Read more / Preview track
