Russ Chimes - Midnight Club EP

We have been really enjoying Russ Chimes output over the last 12 months with a string of dance floor stirring remixes, in particular his takes on Ellie Goulding's - Starry Eyed and Mark Ronson's - Bang Bang Bang standout. Further to this he has an acute eye for retro americana type imagery which look stunning on his blog and the promo video below. We are not sure if he takes the pics himself, but either way we love his artistic direction both musically and visually.

The Magician

The Magician like all magicians before him is shrouded in mystery, but who is he I hear you cry....well there is not much to tell other than he resides in Belgium and has recently FLOWN! the nest to pastures new.

Word has it there is an EP on the horizon, but in the mean time you will have to satisfy yourselves with this wonderfully funk and house fuelled mixtape.

Erol Alkan's - Hard Summer Mix

Apologies, bit slow on getting this up on the blog. Erol Alkan has got himself in the mix in anticipation of his set at Hard Summer Music Festival. Judging by the lineup and this superb mix from Erol, this is an un-missable event. So if you are reading this from your LA home, no excuses get yourself a ticket and dance it hard for those of us stuck in the UK.

No tracklist at the moment, but Erol has promised to reveal all sometime soon.

Homework - I Got Two (Fissa EP)

Homework are a young dutch house duo who recently sprung themselves on an un-suspecting audience with there hugely acclaimed Fissa EP. The lead track Fissa seems to have got the majority of musical pundits falling over themselves to heap praise upon this sprightly duo, however for me its all about the filtered 'I Got Two', this is not to say that everyone else is wrong we just prefer this cut from the EP. Keep an eye on these boys....

Major Lazer – “Jump Up” (Thom Yorke Remix)

Major Lazer have just released their 'Lazers Never Die EP' sporting three new tracks and two remixes. This appears to be only available in the US at the moment, however click HERE to hear streams of all five tracks.

Perhaps the most interesting track on the EP is the Thom Yorke remix of Jump Up. Jump Up is very much in title as it is in listening and therefore not a sentiment you would often associate with one of music's more introspective characters. However despite this somewhat odd alliance Thom Yorke manages to expertly tame the source material and weave in his bleepy, moody Eraser type melancholy to good effect. Jump Up Sit Down seems an apt four word summary of this remix.

Thanks to Stereogum for alerting us to this.

Cut Copy - Where I'm Going (New Single)

Cut Copy are back and sounding better than ever, the Aussie's have been in hiatus for almost 3 years since 2008's excellent 'In Ghost Colours' but word has it in the land down under that 2011 should see the release of their 3rd LP.

Cut Copy describe 'Where I’m Going', as “the kind of track Brian Wilson would've written if he took ecstasy and hung out in 60's London instead of California"....

Sounds of the Underground Part 2 - Egyptrixx

This landed in our inbox the other day and for those of you clicking play before you have even read what we have to say, are probably thinking this is not very BBB. However while you may not hear this type of music in a Blah Blah Blah DJs set very often, you have to admire the skill at which Toronto based Egyptrixx is able to combine dissonant experimental sounds with a sense of melody, taking reference from techno, house, dubstep and no doubt many other sources.

Download his excellent 30 minute Fabric Promo mix to see what we are talking about, and if you like what you hear we also recommend checking out Brodinski - Arnold Classic (Egyptrixx Remix), The Only Way Up EP, and Drive U Crazy.

Camel - Electric Cooking (Vol.1)

Italy based Camel, aka Andrea Maver is growing in prominence as both DJ and Producer, in particular his recent releases on Mowgli's Deadfish label have gathered much support across the board with his deep house, disco, tropical and african rhythms all combining to provide a driving house vibe that will form the soundtrack for many a party this summer.

Check his Meltin Pot EP

And I also strongly recommend downloading his latest mixtape - Electric Cooking. The first half of the mix builds from a deep house platform into a second half groovy dancefloor filler that should be played in many a sun soaked situation.

Chemical Brothers - Swoon (Boys Noize)

The Chemical Brothers have recently released their 7th LP 'Further' to resounding and justifiably deserved acclaim. This is an album that ditches the collaborations which littered previous work and focuses on what made us the love the Chemicals in the first place, LFO twisted sounds backed by meticulous drum tracks that bring both a live and club feel to all 8 tracks. Further to this Ed & Tom have commissioned 8 deliciously sculptured videos for each track which are available with the special edition release. No one does it quite like the Chemicals and this is easily our electronic album of 2010 so far.....

The next single 'Swoon' is one of the album stand out moments and for its release it has been remixed by Beatport award winning Boys Noize. Swoon un-touched is already a great piece of work, however Boys Noize has managed to take the track to another level with his slamming electro peak-time re-work.

WeAreBlahBlahBlah EP27 - Mixed diSapia

Tom DiSapia has had a love of music from an early age; hording old vinyl and playing them on a fisher price turntable way past his bedtime. This love flourished when he came across a set of 1210s at the tender age of 14. Since then he has been burning up the blogs with his own productions, scoring residencies all over the place and playing alongside the likes of Matthew Dear, Ryan Elliot, Nathan Fake and Legowelt. This is deep tech house at its non-generic best, watch out for this guy, guaranteed to go big as both DJ and producer in our humble opinion.

Follow him on Myspace and Twitter.

Chromeo - Dont turn the Lights On

Apologies for the lack of posts I have been busy preparing, attending and recovering from Glastonbury Festival. Its been a few years since my last visit to the Somerset fields, and as always Glasto didn't disappoint with so much great music on offer. Among many highlights Chromeo once again stood out as a group that should un-doubtley be much bigger than they are. A great live performance and a new LP destined to enter my CD collection come September this year.

Check the latest single from the album 'Turn the Lights On' which follows last years superb 'Night by Night. This one is a bit more of a slow burner, but still a great track.
