Admittedly one I first received this in the inbox, I thought to myself "this unlikely to be any good, but it does say Soulwax in the description so I better give it a listen", thankfully I did. Although a demo 'Listen to the Bass' is a really good slice of electro, imagine Soulwax meets Justice but with enough of its own personality that it doesnt sound like a cold cash in.
One Man Party - Listen to the Bass (DEMO) - LOW BIT STREAM
One Man Party aka Steve Slingeneyer's is still the drummer for Soulwax but in recent times has been operating as a DJ playing gigs all across Europe. As well as playing electro, he drops many styles into the mix, so you can expect a DJ set that "Sounds like Keith Moon and Animal from The Muppets double teaming Diana Ross on top of a mixer while Henry Rollins watches!".
If you werent able to attend our 3rd Birthday you missed Alex Metric tearing the place up and you also missed our customary party bags, each containing a specially prepared Blah Blah Blah DJs mixtape. Ramon Tapia son of a Chilean musician is someone we have admired for sometime since discovering him on the books of Great Stuff Recordings, particular tracks that caught our attention included 'Mi Esposa' his remix of 'Tom Craft - When I was Sixteen', 'This Groove' among many other great tracks, check Beatport for his full back catalogue.
Ramon's style is very much of the Tech-House variety, however he is one of the few producers out there who doesnt forget the importance of groove and melody alongside tight programmed beats, its great to have him in the mix.....

Playfair are two cousins from the suburbs of Paris France who have no doubt grown up on a diet of Thomas Bangalter, Roule Records and their parents Disco collection, and once again the French dont disappoint with what could be the next artist to explode across the channel and infect many a dance floor across the UK and beyond. These boys have just released their debut EP - 'End It' and as you would expect from a French duo this EP is all filter, disco, house and groove. If you have long been admirer of the French House scene you will enjoy this EP, and like me be interested to hear Playfair's follow up to this promising introduction.
Some nice summery vibes from the excellent Gomma Records and Moullinex. Munk's own label has been a consistant source of quality material and this latest release is no exception. Ive posted the video of the original track alongside the Lorenz Rhode remix as this is also a fine piece of production.

Moullinex - Superman is currently available for purchase from the usual sources.
Here's a recording of my set from the weekend. I played at The Lovely Jonjo's amazing night, Hot Boy Dancing Spot. It's a small, intimate and sweaty Easy London basement where people dance from the second the doors open - perfect! These are all of my favourite club tracks of the moment.

Virgil Howe has some serious music credentials, including drumming for Amorphous Androgynous and being the son of a member of Yes!. He is putting on his own night at The Big Chill House on 5th June with The Horrors DJing, plus a really cool sounding live/DJ/sample set with him drumming over the top of it. If it's anything like the (first half) of this mix, it'll be one hell of a headcuss. This is some intense disco. I love it!
