Rapidly emerging local hero (Brighton, UK) Burns follows up his Turbo EP with the schizophrenic and dancefloor destroyer Teknique. Teknique the lead track manages to combine club house in the vain of Surkin White Knight, with Daft Punk filter before descending into a bleeping distorted Boys Noize type breakdown. However despite all the obvious comparisons used to describe the track Burns is his own man and is rapidly crafting his own distinctive mark on the broad electro scene with the likes of A-Trak, Fake Blood and Zombie Nation all packing his tracks.
Track List
A1. Teknique B1. First Move (plus a Fred Falke remix) B2. In My Eyes (plus a His Majesty Andre remix)
Fake Blood exploded on the scene with the massive track Mars, which will no doubt be part of dance folk lore in years to come. Since then Mr Blood has been smashing out the remixes for the likes of Little Boots, Underworld, Dan Le Sac, Gossip to name a few.....but what we have all been waiting for is his follow up to Mars.
Sensibly Fake Blood has let the dust settle on his enigma and the massive Mars anthem before releasing new material, therefore allowing the new EP to stand on its own rather than being compared to Mars and all the hype surrounding his persona at that time. The EP is better for it as it has its own identity and sound, demonstrating that Fake Blood is evolving and is here to stay.
Fix Your Accent is a jet packed tropical teaser full of samba funk and blooming bass lines alongside playground chants for added disco fun. The Dozens is in your face trademark bloodiness......superb!!!
Tracklist
A1. Fix Your Accent B1. The Dozens B2. I Think I Like It
Nadastrom aka Dave Nada and Matt Nordstrom turn out their next EP for Dubsided following on from the huge success of their debut Pussy ep on Dubsided at the end of last year. This is a great little package with the stand out track for me being Squarez. Squarez kicks of with a siren looping yeh sound and a thumping 4/4 beat before dropping into a rolling techno groove with an electro twist.....top stuff and hugely effective on the floor.
Despite the imminent release of his second album Alex Ridha has still managed to find time to keep the releases coming from his Boys Noize label, and this time round it see's the return of D.I.M. D.I.M has been a bit quiet of late but this is a true return to form with the likes of Tiga, and Brodinski charting this track. Personally I prefer the Noob remix which we charted this month.
All in all a great electro, tech track that could only come from a Boys Noize release.
Boys Noize is back with his long awaited second album entitled POWER. It’s release October 5th will show how far Alex Ridha has come as a producer since “Oi Oi Oi”. Though his signature sound is still present the approach is more experimental and versatile. This is a new kind of techno that encompasses elements of both rave and minimal but also the kind of inspired beats that would make hip hop producers drool. Power” is precision tooled techno from an artist at the top of his game.
The POWER launch party, presented by Bugged Out, takes place at London’s Fire on September 26th.
One of the most eagerly anticipated releases of the year so far, Peanuts Club is a collobaration between Turbo's bright young stars: Noob and Brodinski. It's already being rinsed out by the biggest DJs in the world and we have a great remix by NT89 to give away in full 320kbps. NT89 is a name to keep an eye out for, he's already done some great remixes for Tiga and Zombie Nation. You can see a video of the original below.
DJ Zinc formerly one of the longest standing and prolific Drum and Bass producers has packed his 140 to 180 bpms and traded them in for a buzzing electro house sound, and based on recent releases and remixes this has proved to be an inspired move.
The video below is Zinc bombing around Beriut to the backing track of his latest track Watch Dis, a track that has been ripping up Ibiza 2009 and the Radio 1 studio.
It looks like Vitalic is emerging from the mists of time with some eagerly anticipated new material, despite the odd remix and re-issued album it has not been since 2005's release of 'Ok Cowboy' that Vitalic has really screeched his way onto our dancefloors.
Your Disco Song is the first release from the upcoming album 'Flash Mob', although the details and sounds of this album have been heavily guarded, initial reactions from the Vitalic camp had this to say about some of the tracks on the album. "Terminator Benelux" is a "vicious, deliciously dirty aural assault," "Poison Lips" is a "soaring disco tune buoyed...by cooing female vocals" and the title track will be his "most epic, dance floor igniting track...yet."
Sounds good to us, roll on the re-birth of Vitalic and the release of 'Flash Mob' (28th September 2009)
