WeAreBlahBlahBlah EP12 - Mixed by Style of Eye

The mixes have been coming thick and fast over the last couple of weeks and to finish off a superb month of mixes we have the Swedish Grammy Nominated Style of Eye.

The Stockholm born and based DJ/producer is making a name for himself in techno, but his productions are essentially a journey through everything from techno to house via raw percussion and minimal, floaty melodies and downright weird noises.

This exclusive mix is no different as Linus (Style of Eye) takes us on a journey through techno, minimal, electro, percussion led fidget which is all nicely laced together with a building atmospheric groove which is polished with a killer melody just at the right moment……cracking stuff and one to played loud!

Style Of Eye’s productions are testament to the hotbed of talent springing forth from the underground scene. After growing up in a jazz and soul oriented family, graduating from banging pots and pans to a drumkit aged 10, he realised electronic music was his calling after getting his first computer aged 15 and making “weird downtempo dubbeat and trip hop.“ DJing upbeat drum and bass followed at 16, and Linus was a firm fixture in the studio before long, developing his unique style of music.

If you like this mix then his highly acclaimed 2008 debut album ‘Duck Cover and Hold’ is a must have, with killer tracks such as Ona and Girls to name a few Style of Eye is a producer with the vision and talent to become one of the biggest names on the scene.

The dance rock DJs have been at the forefront of the club scene for sometime as both DJs and promoters, propelling themselves from the grotty sticky floors of the Camden Bar Fly to the more pleasant surroundings of Fabric with their outrageous ability to effortlessly combine the best upcoming live and DJ talent, presenting the likes of Justice, Late of the Pier, Bloc Party alongside your Sindens, Boy 8 Bits and Erol Alkans……

and if that wasn’t enough they have now taken the Kill em All ethos and moulded the DJ duo into a four piece live outfit (Filthy Dukes Live) and are about to release their eagerly anticipated debut LP ‘Nonsense in the Dark’. Nonsense in the Dark due to be released March 16th has been described as featuring proper songs with an indie heartbeat, electro pulse and an analogue bite, that will both move your heart as well as your feet. Kill em All on a CD if you like.

Jesse Rose Essential Mix

Jesse Rose dropped a bangin’ Essential Mix in January 2009 and after over three and a half years in the works, Rose’s new LP entitled What Do You Do If You Don’t has just been released on Dubsided this week.

Mixed down in Los Angeles with Switch the long player is comprised of all brand new martial (apart from the 2006 single You’re All Over My Head) and sees additional production collaborations from the likes of Hot Chip, David E Sugar and Oliver $ to name a few.

Foamo Chews the Fat with another stomping Mixtape

Foamo appears to be unstoppable at the moment, with a number of genre defining mixtapes (Summer Mixtape June 2008), huge personal productions such as ‘Rockerman’ and Movin it Over Here, as well as some huge remixes for the likes of Mystery Jets, and to top it all off a 2008 DJ Mag nomination for best break through artist. Imagine our excitement when he sent through the latest Foamo mixtape.
